Walid Regragui, the head coach of Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) comes the school of realists and never misses a single opportunity to shine on the football scene and show off his talent.

The tactician has acquired a great deal of experience over the years.

After hanging his boots following a football career as a defender, he became a coach with a nuanced style, his style always swaying from defensive to offensive preference, depending on how he wants his result to turn out.

Born on September 23, 1975 in France, Regragui began his career at Corbeil-Essonnes where he played for several clubs including Toulouse FC then Ajaccio and Racing Santander in Spain before returning to France to play for Dijon and Grenoble.

Regragui distinguished himself in the ranks of the Atlas Lions under the leadership of the then coach Badou Ezzaki with whom he reached the final of the 2004 African Cup of Nations where they lost to Tunisia.

Regragui's presence at that time with the Atlas Lions was a great moment for Moroccan fans who knew his technique and his beautiful game both defensively and offensively.

At the coaching level, Walid demonstrated his great potential in deciphering opponents and incorporating changes in a timely manner during his stint as boss of Fath Union Sport (FUS) Rabat.

He is known for his outspokenness and earth moving statements.

Among the most relayed by social media networks include: “I am not Barça… I want to win…. I scored so it's over!. or even: “I have nothing to do with the show, I just want the victory”.

On Monday at the Mohammed V Sports Complex, Regragui will have a date with destiny and will try to fulfill the dream of all players and coaches in their attempt to win this coveted trophy.
