Ajara Njoya scores late winner for Cameroon

Ajara Njoya scored at the dying minutes as Cameroon Indomitable Lionesses defeated Central African Republic 1-0 at Japoma Stadium in Douala at the first round first leg of the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2022 qualifiers.

The game took place in the economic capital of Cameroon, was however hosted by CAR, as they play their home matches in Douala.

Central African Republic is looking for their first participation in the Africa Cup of Nations finals, while on the other hand, Cameroon are looking for their first continental coronation.

Central African Republic stood solid for the whole 90 minutes and almost earned themselves a valuable draw.

But Ajara Njoya scored at the very end to handle Cameroon win that could make things easier for them in the return leg next week in Yaoundé.

In the 91st minute, the Inter Milan striker scored a magnificent right-footed goal, one of her specialties, after controlling an assist from Ngo Mbeleck.

Despite winning, the Cameroonians did not celebrate as they are already preparing for the return match scheduled for Yaoundé in four days.
