CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers draw conducted

The official draw of the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers was officially conducted on Thursday, 10 August with some interesting outcomes for the 8-Team tournament set to take place in Durban between 30 August and 8 September.
Reigning champions, Green Buffaloes of Zambia headline Group A which consists of Double Action Ladies of Botswana, Lesotho Defense Force as well as Ntopwa FC of Malawi, who make their maiden appearance in the tournament.
The Zambians have become regulars of the tournament, along with Botswana’s Double Action who are both making their third appearance.
Inaugural champions, who went on to claim the 2021 CAF Women’s Champions League title, Mamelodi Sundowns carry the favourites tag in Group B where they will be up against Olympic de Moroni of Comoros, Costa Do Sol of Mozambique as well as Eswatini’s Young Buffaloes.
Olympic de Moron finished fourth at last year’s edition after impressive performances that saw them advance from the group stages in their maiden appearance while Costa Do Sol and Eswatini will also be looking at doing better at this year’s edition.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals to determine the two teams that will battle it out for the single spot reserved for the COSAFA region at the CAF Women’s Champions League set to take place in Cote d’Ivoire between 5 – 19 November.
