Cameroon: Brenda Tabe becomes Awa Filles FC all-time top scorer at 18

Cameroon U20 Women's national team striker Tabe Brenda Ebika has become the record scorer for her club Awa Filles FC following her latest goals for the current Cameroon champions.
This past weekend, the Awa Filles forward scored her second goal of the season after scoring against Louves in week one; furthermore, the two goals put the 18-year-old at 34 goals, putting her ahead of former striker Eliane Bibout as the all-time top scorer in the club’s history.
Brenda scored one of five goals in her club's emphatic 5-0 dropping of FC Ebolowa Ladies last weekend to take her tally for Cameroon's 2021-2022 CAF Women's Champions League preliminary representatives to 34 goals in 43 games for the Warriors.
In just three years at the club, Tabe has outscored Eliane Bibout who kept the all-time top scorer record for four years after achieving the 33 goals record for the club in 2018.
The Cameroon international spoke with CAFOnline about her new heights for the club.
“I have worked hard all my life to be better with every passing game and be in my best shape. There is no pressure to score goals or break records here. The real goal is to win titles every season but this season particularly we want to spice it with an honorable performance in the CAF Champions League. That is our target. It is a good run in the CAF Champions League, Guinness Super League and a cup of Cameroon title will be more important for the club. And if I stay focused, I’ll still score goals,” Tabe narrated before adding she jealously protects the new feat anyway.
“Being the top scorer in the history of this great club is an honor but I will keep trying to score more goals and help our team win games to write the story of our generation in the minds of the fans of our club today and in the years to come.”
Though Tabe missed five of her club's games last season due to her end of course examination in secondary school, the forward scored 15 goals, adding to 17 in the previous season and two goals this term.
The ex-Lekie Filles FC and Dream Soccer Academy of Mamfe goal poacher is in the running for a place in Cameroon's WAFCON 2022 squad and will be an attraction for coach Hassan Ibrahim's Awa Filles FC during the zonal preliminaries of the 2022 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
