Cameroon secured a 2-0 win over hard fighting Central African Republic to progress to the second round of the TotalEnergies Women's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Yaounde on Sunday, October 24.

The Indomitable Lionesses were keen to consolidate on their first leg lead over their Central African foes, having claimed a slim 1-0 victory at the Japoma Stadium, adopted ground of the Wild Beasts four days ago.

After a late first leg winner courtesy of Ajara Njoya Nchout, Gabriel Zabo's side were hoping to better their performance but they failed to convert their dominance, ending the first half in a goalless draw.

The breakthrough eventually came for the frustrated hosts in the 69th minute through substitute Grace Ngock Yango's powerful strike, breaking the resilience of the solid Beasts' defence.

To cement the lead, the Lionesses kept piling up the pressure and were gifted another opportunity from a free kick spot, which Mambo Lambo fired home on the brink on full time at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, Yaounde.

The second leg triumph saw of Zabo's team complete a double over their neighours to reach the next round on 3-0 aggregate win and will take on winner between Gambia and Sierra Leone in February next year.
