FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup: Exciting third round of qualifiers set kick off on Friday

The race towards a place in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Dominican Republic 2024™ enters an exciting third round of qualifiers this week, as 12 nations prepare to put their best foot forward for the three places reserved for Africa at the global youth women’s football competition.

The two-legged qualifiers officially get underway on Friday, 10 May as Ethiopia welcomes Kenya for the first leg.

A thrilling North African derby is on the cards on the same day as Morocco plays host to Algeria in what promises to be an action-packed encounter.

On Saturday, Burkina Faso takes on Nigeria in a west African affair.

Nigeria, who finished third at the last edition in India will be hoping to maintain their good showing at the global stage but must first overcome a highly determined Burkina Faso side.

Senegal meet Liberia on the same day and will be aiming to get a good result at home. Under the guidance of Serena Lena Gomis, the team has set a target of being the first Senegalese women’s team to qualify for a FIFA World Cup.

The last round of fixtures take place on Sunday as Djibouti faces Burundi while Zambia takes on the high-flying Uganda stunned Cameroon in the previous round.
