After replacing Moses Nkounkou early in the game, Prestige Mboungou went on to become the Total Man of the Match for being the architect of the resulting penalty which handed Congo victory over Cameroon. Below are excerpts of his interview with the press after receiving his prize;

Feeling after being named Man of the Match

I’m happy for playing my part in the victory of my team. It was not easy for us. My performance was made possible by the collective play of the team.

How did you manage such feat against a team like Cameroon?

I must admit it was a very difficult game. We tried to hold on to the scoreline because Cameroon gave us so much cause to worry.

What does this victory mean to your chances in the competition?

It’s our first game in the competition. The coach gave us instructions before the match and even at half-time, and we respected them. We are happy for this result but now we have to think of the next match, which will be another difficult test against Burkina Faso.
