Morocco v Rwanda - Holders to qualify, Amavubi to recover

Defending champions Morocco are looking forward to securing their place in Total African Nations Championship (CHAN), Cameroon 2020 quarterfinals when they face Rwanda in Douala. The Group C matchday 2 fixture takes place at Reunification Stadium on Friday 22 January 2021.

The Atlas Lions started their title defense campaign in a perfect way, beating debutants Togo 1-0 last Monday, and another win against Rwanda Amavubi means they are already in the final eight.

However, after a less impressing performance in their debut, Morocco coach Houcine Ammouta said he felt "satisfied with the result but not the content" against Togo.

“I expect more in the coming games,” Amouta declared as his side looked shaky, especially in attack. With players like 2018 Top Scorer and Most Valuable Player Ayoub El Kaabi in the squad, there is much anticipated from the Atlas Lions.

On the other side, Rwanda were held to a goalless draw by neighbors Uganda and are seeking recovery against the reigning champions.

Amavubi had a good performance against their regional foes, and coach Vincent Mashami is looking forward to achieving more against the reigning champions.

Rwanda managed to go through the group stage once in their previous CHAN participations, when they hosted the tournament in 2016. They hope of another feat in a tough looking group.
