Senegal win TotalEnergies CHAN Fair Play award

Just like the 2021 TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations(AFCON) in Cameroon, the Teranga Lions have won the Fair Play prize at the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

It is becoming a routine as Senegal began its football calendar year with the CHAN title a Fair play prize.

Being the first West African team to win the CHAN, Pape Thiaw's squad distinguished themselves on and off the pitch.

Young and dynamic as the Senegalese team was, they also placed discipline at the heart of their campaign in Algeria.

The Teranga Lions were seen cheering on their opponents after every game.

Impressive in the group stage where they picked six points from three games, the Teranga Lions only managed to narrowly win against their opponents in the knockouts.

The knockout games taught Pape Thiaw great lessons: “Against Mauritania or Madagascar, our destiny could have changed. You should never look down on your opponents," were Pape Thiaw's words which mirrored the mindset of the Teranga Lions.
